About Deersbrook
Introduction
The Deersbrook Foundation was established in 1996 as a registered Canadian private foundation. Deersbrook only makes grants to registered Canadian charities that have a stated Christian faith and purpose.
The Deersbrook Foundation has a history of assisting non-affiliated ministries (i.e. not denominationally based) that have the development and encouragement of Christian leaders, potential Christian leaders, and Christian families as an important element of their work. Particular interest has been given to funding ministries which include as a substantial and identifiable component of their design the expressed desire and ability to establish, equip and/or enhance:
- mentoring youth in their spiritual commitment, development and active participation in leadership within the Body of Christ; and,
- strengthening the structure of the family, especially for those involved in leadership within the Body of Christ.
Within this broader historic function, the primary focus of current funding initiatives is to strategically select and assist Christian ministries that are in the start-up phase or have identified smaller but important projects that will further their ministry but are not part of the ministry’s current regular operations.
In assessing proposals, the Deersbrook Foundation Board of Directors will consider the potential for significant Spiritual and Social Return on Investment (SSROI). What is the potential transformational impact of the funding requested? How will that benefit the Christian community (locally, nationally and/or internationally)? What is the track record of the ministry / leadership? How viable is the organization?
